Need to break out of self doubt?
Real Talk!
I’ve been feeling pretty bummed lately. I don’t know what it is weather.
So, I took a few minutes this morning to get my samples out and put them on this display that I usually use for Comic Cons.
It was a visual reminder of. All the stuff that I’ve accomplished. And you know what? It really helped, and as artists, as creatives, we can really get filled with self-doubt.
If you don’t have samples, a good way for you to do this is to start writing your own brag document.
This is a document where you collect up any wins, any accomplishments, awards, and then when you need a boost like I did, you go in there, you read it, and you’ll start remembering what an awesome human being and creative business owner you are.
Here are some things to consider including in your brag document.
- Awards - educational, industry
- Clients - Anyone you’ve worked or volunteered for
- Achievements - Things you’re proud to have achieved
- What you’re great at - List your best qualities and strongest skills
- “People Say Good Things” - Testimonials, kind comments from your social media and emails
- “Good Things are Always Happening to Me” - (Credit to my friend Gill) Collect times when the world shows you kindness. Or good things that line up through serendipity. Moments of joy.
- Screenshot folder - Link to a folder with images of kind things people have said about you.
You’re awesome and sometimes you have to be reminded of that. Keep moving forward and making this world a better place through your work.
I hope these tips help get you out of that trap that is your own mind.
You’ve got this!
